November 2001 Hello I write nursing a still painful face - where I had some grim dental surgery recently which I am still recovering from - a mouth full of stitches, one tooth less and recently the winner of Chipmunk of the Year Award with my swollen face. After a rare few days at home I am off again to jet around and explore some foreign ground so if you are around in one of these places please come along and say hello. Recent shows have varied from abstract experimentation through to manic headbanging cut up beats so be prepared for some surprises. I'm performing live with the amazing Reaktor 3.0 software which is simply inspirational, as well as a bunch of naughty programmes that allow me to manipulate all the sound live, so feel free to come and watch the buttons and screens on stage. Entertainment wise, London also recently offered the extraordinary surround sound system playback of many early Stockhausen works introduced by the man himself in an unforgettable white safari suit, followed by the padded sounds of an Aphex Twin gig where we all wandered around wearing wireless headphones in silence, and a Rephlex Records night where Pierre Bastien amazed the crowd with his mechano percussive beats and underwater mini-trumpet playing. If anyone is visiting here soon too you should not miss the Doug Aitken: New Ocean show at the Serpentine Gallery, a fantastic show accompanied by the sounds of To Rococo Rot, David Grubbs, Steve Roden and Speedy J. So, back to eating my nuts like all good animals... Keep in touch.
