carpark newsletter for november 2001
chapter break down
new winter/spring releases!
a time to tour
and a time to rest (we got gossip!)
new stuff comin right up!
carpark is currently preparing for its 2002 line. we're very excited
to announce that our first release of the year will be by boston
resident greg davis. some of you might be familiar with greg through
his work with parallel and as asterisk and as the man behind autumn
records (cf. the autumn nature comp released earlier this year with
tracks from marumari, hrvatski, cex and others.) carpark will
release "arbor" on february 19th. it's quite a unique
record....combines many elements of acoustic guitar folk music and
laptop style fun. there's even a little singing in there! we're
confident "arbor" will herald the arrival of a brand new musical
sub-genre: "laptop folk"...yay. a full on tour is in the works too!
more info and cover art should be available on the carpark website
very soon.
next up is the newest takagi masakatsu "journal for people." takagi
has really outdone himself this time. if you enjoy his "pia" carpark
release your jaw will surely drop with his latest. as the title
implies, takagi masakatsu focuses more on people and persons and
their relations with nature (naturally occuring and man-made) in this
release. we're still working out the details of the release but
"journal for people" should be the first carpark dvd! we'll
definitely let you know what's up with this in the next newsletter.
and most certainly the kit clayton/safety scissors ping pong cd will
arrive in shops soon after the aforementioned releases....

and thanks to everyone who came out to see takagi masakatsu live in
north america last month. it was very exciting for takagi to share
his video and music with everyone. we're hoping to arrange a
european tour for takagi this spring!
carpark gossip
here's an irregular column of the newsletter where we will share
various tidbits of info about carpark artists.
marumari - we heard a rumor that the marumari remix record will be
released at some point in 2002 by the city centre offices label.
also, don't know if you've heard but marumari has officially quit
making music. citing a dissatisfaction with the state of music in
general, marumari has decided to realize his dream of writing a
science fiction novel. last we heard josh has written four chapters.
perhaps some excerpts will be shared with the public soon. and we're
not just talking about one science fiction novel! as marumari is now
two (josh and sasha) we can confirm that josh AND sasha are each
writing their own sci fi masterpiece. we will see if it picks up
where the marumari "baby m" video left off. we'd also like to
congratulate josh and sasha on their recent marriage!
takagi masakatsu has been causing quite a stir in japan recently. he
has been featured in over 10 magazines, on two tv stations, and one
radio station...very exciting for such a new artist! takagi will be
travelling to turkey in a few weeks where his work will be featured
at the istanbul biennial. takagi also plans on collaborating with a
turkish singer on some new tracks while he is there. can't wait to
hear the results!
miss dinky will be travelling to her native chile next month where
she will be spending the summer relaxing and working on new tracks.
an electronic festival of some kind is being planed for january in
santiago. in addition to her recent carpark 12" you should also
check out miss dinky's first full length out now on the traum label.
