Billy-man-dude, Knowing the mindset of some of these people, yes they are ignoring U..... I'd love to see that darn Manitoba aurora.......and in terms of music, boy-o-boy to sample some of that stuff, create a splendid melody and sprinkle the 4/4 sound on top of it......hoooo-hoooo, I'd loose my mind. -----Original Message----- From: Billy Stiltner [mailto:wavex@mounet.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2001 11:46 PM To: Idm@Hyperreal. it sounds pretty neat slowed down(do i hear bass drops)and you can get some pretty cool snare rush or [insert your favorite sound here]rush timings out of some of the recordings that have lightning bursts --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The silly thing is that most of the Aurora sound they've recorded is not as interesting as the ambient frogs, birds and such in the background. Sounds like Eno's on land stuff georgewilliamson --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i think the frogs and birds are sounds coming from the aurora i may be mistaken though but i think the same sounds come through in the recordings done by the polar sattelite i thought they sounded like crickets and dolphins though --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

That's not frogs and birds- that's the aurora. It is not an audio recording, it very low frequency radio waves. -- forel elitist fuck --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey, That elf/vlf stuff is very interesting. Having just come from a musicology class at University and having just discussed different forest societies and their relation between music, spirituality and their natural surroundings, it seems somewhat appropriate. Seems kind of sad that we've pumped so many grids of power around us that we really have to get far away from civilization to hear the sounds. thanks, Mark & Melissa hellothisisalex www.hellothisisalex.com / records.hellothisisalex.com mp3s at www.raw42.com/cgi-bin/featuredartist.pl?artist=213; www.headjunk.com mark@hellothisisalex --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Billy, You have to take this list w/ a grain of salt. The impact of your post should be a sign of how much "in the details" this list is. Since the number of this list is vast (in IDM metrics) then you have to realize that a)some poeple "get it" and b) "some people" DO NOT. This is not for the "b" category. stephen / zygote >> http://www.undertheradar.net

i dont know the definition of snare rush, but my guess would be a succesion rapidly repeating snare hits i supose you could get that sound with a brush, but i think most of the snare rushes(if they are really snare rushes) occur in electronic music with a sampled snare or an electronicaly created snare drum sound as far as the snare rush sounding things in the vlf recordings i would imagine they are produced my a sucession of rapidly repeating lghtning strikes.
