quoted 1 line I liked what Marc Mac and Dego said when talkin bout broken beats:->>I liked what Marc Mac and Dego said when talkin bout broken beats:-
"Its through associations with the likes of Phil Asher and Patrick Forge that 4 Hero have become aligned to the underground scene of West London. I ask Dego about the often misunderstood 'broken beats' scene and the sound of future jazz which runs so deeply through their new album. "With that it's just a whole lot of open minded people wanting to push themselves further," he replies. "I think that's the connection, more than the music itself because there are so many different styles going on. It's coming from the roots of black music in general - whether it's jazz, reggae or hip-hop. We are all trying to make music with a certain vibe and feeling, trying to capture that spirit." Marc takes the argument forward: "A lot of people would disagree with me and say that music is just for fun, but to me it's a canvas for emotion. All the stuff we were brought up on was born out of struggle and you should be able to hear that in the music ..." and talkin bout why 4 Hero choose not to play live ... "As Marc shows me around the studio and the vast array of instruments they have collected, from African thumb pianos, to Japanese string instruments, I ask him if they have any plans for taking their music live. "At the end of the day we are just producers," he replies. "Going back to those producers we grew up with, like the Mizell brothers, I still don't know what they look like." Np: Majik Jar(a Classic tune that just cant be beat in my ears. I think they used to play this on the radio a long time ago)..... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
