Which leads me to this thought- why aren't there more live idm recordings released as albums? That live Kid 606 is a hell of a lot more cohesive than Down with the Scene. And just plain funner to listen to. There is no Electric Company cd that measures up to how powerful he sounds live. Same goes for Lexaunculpt. To answer my own question- probably because they take a lot of time when bootlegs show up on the internet almost instantly, cost money to produce, and the artists would never be happy with the live to 2 track mixes anyway even though we listeners might love it. It's kinda sad. Oh well. Just a thought. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Maybe you should quit your job, go back to college and become a 6-head or whatever you want to call yourself. You can follow kid606 around and sell peanut butter sandwiches and nitrous balloons in the parking lot to all the other people following him around on tour. Then, you can trade bootlegs of the shows. :) Seriously, though, I think it's a good idea. I've seen a few live sets that should've definitely been released. I wish the IDM scene had not forgotten about its rave roots, because then we'd be seeing sweet mixtapes from some of these people. I do know a few smaller IDM artists who have released live sets and they were all pretty good. I have a few sets that I've played that I probably would've released had they been recorded. Oh well. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@my2way.com http://www.atomly.com/ | 877.741.3571 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

FWIW, we here at namke try to record every gig that we do - Ok, so we haven't done too many gigs yet... it's just a case of packaging them I guess.... ... in fact, there'll soon be another gig recording - <<dktr t>> is pencilled in to be playing at the launch party of SightSonic 2001 on October 18th (City Screen, York). cheers, john.. namke communications, York UK [ http://www.namke.com/ ] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

This is quite good, and is a sort of snapshot of where 606's live sets have been going, but I think he's even gone beyond that CD. For all the hype and hating going on around 606, I just think there's a lot of meat on the bones of his live sets. They feel really live, and as though he's hearing what he's doing for the first time as well... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yea, they get better each time I see him, really. Too bad I like his live sets so much more than his recorded material lately, though. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@my2way.com http://www.atomly.com/ | 877.741.3571 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but i've seen mr 606 at least 5 or 6 times and it seems that each time i've seen him he's complained about the volume on the monitor. it's quite a laugh, he just stares angrily at the sound guy and points and the monitors and then to the sky. i definitely think his live sets are going better, and i appreciate when he's dance-ish as opposed to mad breaks-ish because then the people who i usually go to shows with actually enjoy it and don't accuse me of trying to drive them crazy. i wonder if he knows how to do his more recent stuff live or not,,, that always struck me as why he's more like the kid606 of yore live than his most recent material would suggest. gregoryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ===== ************************* cd-r's for sale or trade******************* jean paul l'asthme: 'unstuck your eyeglue'* ********************************&********** __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Being able to hear yourself on stage is really important, and as someone who both plays live and does sound at shows, I know that unless the sound guy is really good and sympathetic to the performers, it can be really hard to hear yourself and do a good show... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i've had the same problem, kent (i play live too) i wasn't criticizing monsieur606, i just thought it was funny that EVERY time i've seen him, there's been problems with the sound levels. before i play, i soundcheck. it usually helps. gregory ===== ************************* cd-r's for sale or trade******************* jean paul l'asthme: 'unstuck your eyeglue'* ********************************&********** __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
