so i recently heard this ep by KiNK called the aphex KiNK ep, like a tribute he made to aphex out of aphex and autechre and etc samples, and i love it so i explored some more of his stuff like 'under destruction' and i love it, it's very much rooted in techno but he uses all sorts of bizarre melodies and idm-ish trickz in his tracks, very creative Clint Anderson Systems Engineer "Freedom -- paint me a picture!" -- Burton Cummings

I always liked this one from KiNK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJgdX3QaP7A and this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kagn4qMOhd0  haha, funny thing, he didn't appreciate the satire in this and made physical threats to me for sharing this video.  Meanwhile he helped make a name for himself by sampling aphex and autechre, funny guy, bit of a DC if you ask me, but eh, whatever. He recently did a remix of a vibert track, I told him "eh, come on man, don't fuck with perfection, can't you write your own music?" that didn't sit well with his ego, haha Don't want to get anyone's back up, I'm sure there are a lot of KiNK fans on this list, but I don't think his music is creative, all I hear is him ripping off other people's work and using standard "tricks" in his stuff while trying to make out like he is innovating, but in reality there's nothing new or exciting about what he does.  (Just my opinion of course) On 8/09/2017 3:56 AM, Laurent Knauth wrote:

C'mon guys, Do people really *« need to be warned of the dangers of Hot Knobs »* ? Back to *Under Destruction*, i found this release very refreshing when it came out, like *« oh, techno still has things to say then »*, although i must admit that Surgeon's roaring *From Farthest Known Objects* eventually left me a much deeper impression afterwards for instance. About *« ripping off »*, we all know that it's always (more or less) part of the race. Some people do it better than others of course, or maybe they just do it laterally rather than literally. Speaking of which, Luke Vibert actually built his entire career *« ripping off other people's work ».* Did you ask him *« can't you write your own music? »* as well ? And when he remixed *LFO*, did you also tell him *« come on man, don't fuck with perfection »* ? I guess that nobody's perfect, especially artists who « make it » in any way, which basically means overcoming repeated failures over and over on a daily basis. Showing up as an artist is nothing less than a « coming out ». No small task. No matter what you think of KiNK's hot-knobbing or music (you have the right to hate it, yes), i think that, like most of the living organisms, this guy deserves a little empathy.
