A whole year?
Are you looking for what's happened on the list? Or
what's happened in the world of IDM music?
Because I can't really help you with the former, as
nothing much of note happens on the list except for
the discussion of the latter...
IDM events of note in the past year (most from the
past few months, as my short-term memory is better
than my long-term):
Stuff no one talked about on the list:
-Boards of Canada release new EP at the end of 2000
-Autechre release long-awaited new album and tour
-Squarepusher releases long-awaited new album and is
currently touring
-Plaid release long-awaited new album and is touring
-Aphex Twin has 2xCD album set for release before the
end of the year - will he tour, too? :p
-New Warp act Chris Clark releases a great but
too-short album
Non-Warp IDM (heh):
Proem - Negativ [merck]
Machine Drum - Now You Know [merck]
Jake Mandell - Love Songs for Machines [carpark]
Marumari - Supermogadon [carpark]
Freescha - Kids Fill the Floor [attacknine]
Freeform's new album set for August release...
Planet Mu releases tons of stuff, most of which is
apparently good but not to my tastes.
Four Tet's new Pause album is very tasty
Most of us seemed to like Gimmik's Slow Motion Process
on Worm Interface last December
SinFest 2001 in NYC, August 23-25
And, um, lots more stuff I can't think of right now,
but then even if I could, you might not care anyways
if your tastes don't match up with mine.
