Come on, I saw a few pairs of phat pants at the show in Dallas last night. And I met a certain txraver into skincare. So what did you kids think? Capsule review: Vert - melodic, certain housy sensibilities. Very nice. Wanted to buy a CD, but I'll have to get it later. Nobukazu Takemura - saw the instore at Good Records and liked it better. He's really a mixed bag with me, though I do see parallels to what Fluoroscopic Kid does. Mouse on Mars - OH MY FUCKING GOD. They make techno rock and they make rock techno. I definitely did some booty shaking until one of the security guys made me sit back down on the furniture I was standing on. Tortoise - dunno, I left. After MOM, nothing would have been that good, and it was really fucking hot and smoky in there. Attention: When yo ugo to a fucking show, could you smoke maybe 5 less cigarettes? I don't have an objection to smoking, but when hundreds of kids smoke twenty cigarettes back to back and the venue still has shitty ventilation DESPITE an upscaling and no longer booking local bands - could you guss just please smoke LESS? Okie, I'm done ranting. I bought me a Mouse on Mars shirt. I'll have to go back and pick up some Vert and MOM albums later when I have more cash. Great evening, well worth the money. Imagine, trying to get people to stop using an unhealthy substance which has had its method of delivery finely tuned to promote addiction while its target market increases across the age spectrum. Fuck, next thing you know my Asbestos Flakies will be taken off the shelves and Drinkin Box o' Diesel will be replaced by orange juice or some shit. I really don't understand people who have a problem with being asked to smoke less. Imagine that. Smoking smells bad. Aw dude, trying working in a bar, as a non-smoker (never smoked tobacco...didn't enjoy the hit)...it sucks, big time...not that I'm against smoking in other forms, mind you......... ;) Roy Castle died of lung cancer...he was a non-smoker, but because he used to work as a Jazz musician in little smokey jazz bars, all the passive smoking killed him... My understanding is that there are two kinds of smokers: 1. The poor phoquers who are hooked. 2. Those that just like the taste of it with a pint of beer. For the first set, the tobacco companies should be made to find a way to get people off the stuff, and sell it at a reasonable price... For the second set, well, what do you do? I think there should be a law, enforcing usage of deodarant at tightly packed shows, as it really forces people to do everything in their power, including smoking, in order to fill their nasal passages with anything but the smell of BO. ;) I am just kidding... but being considerate is an important virtue. Smoking sucks, but most of us have gotten sucked into it at a tender age of 14 or 15, when we had like 2 braincells that were too busy fighting with each other, and trying to look cool so we could get laid, so please forgive us, poor saps. We mean no harm. I really try to not smoke indoors and am very cautious about where I exhale.
