As ever the Depeche lp is a "grower". At first I thought, what is this shit and then after a few more listens it got inside me to work its magic. 10 airings later and I think it stands up with any of their albums. Mark Bell does a lovely job on production and keeps it interesting with a lovely mix of digital and acoustic sounds along with the very fine and awfully mature voice of Dave Gahan. I feel it will be looked back upon in years to come as one of their finest moments. Mortal+Chemist however are a different kettle of fish than Depeche or are they??? Loads of filtered digital trickery (like DM) but no song or emotion or melody (unlike DM). Hey I admire their (M+C's) trickery but I've seen (heard) this magician loads of times before. Was impressed the 2nd and third time but am now bored but still don't know how they do their tricks. The slim shady cover is ok for 1 listen but after that its redundant. Whats the point in hearing the same ok joke over and over? And so it goes for the other tracks. Skam/Mask are a good label but they know they can tell better jokes. Depeche Mode are still innovators (and popular ones at that) pc _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
