Did anybody else catch this SCATHING RETORT? Not that there was much to reply to, but why multiply the inconsequential? ---Included Message Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 12:41:27 -0400 From: "Lara Wiesenthal" <activity@activaire.com> Subject: RE: [idm] autechre live in seattle I disagree saw them last night and left after 2 "songs". it really sucked... I feel ripped off... anyway, their music is just technical noise with no emotion, tells no story etc... it's not really music... <snip> ---End Included Message Pithy quote of the day: "The future of music is not music" In semi-related thoughts, after listening to Confield for the past couple of days I'm struck by how monotonous it *isn't*. Sometimes more ambient, sometimes straightforward, this album is a lot more melodious and structured than the reviews I've read make it out to be (if you consider 'they didn't make <x>' or 'it's just boring' to be reviews). Rhythms that seem chaotic and noisy coalesce and the busy-ness smears into the spaces between upfront sounds. Subtlety is lost on those who can't appreciate it. ;) It's nice to see a band not getting stuck in a rut. -eric onnow: Adult, "Resuscitation" (Ersatz Audio) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
