wondering that since schematic's website is relatively useless as far as hearing what their output sounds like, if anyone can describe the house of distraction compilation for me. is it similar in vein to ischemic folks/lily of the valley? i've heard good and bad things about it on the list. also, anyone who has while's haze ep on vinyl, are the "haze cuts and tones" and "haze beats and scratches" cuts actual "songs", or just collections of the samples/noise/etc that he used for the tracks? r. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

House of Distraction doesn't really sound much like either Lily of the Valley or Ischemic Folks. There are a few more melodic songs (like the Delarosa and Asora & o9 joints), but the album is mostly influenced by the Richard Devine school of IDM. 7 of the 15 tracks are by Richard Devine, Otto von Schirach, or are remixes of Richard Devine. I think that the quality of the compilation suffers a bit from its heavy reliance on remixes. My overall impression of the House of Distraction compilation is growing more positive with each listen. It is a rather good slice of robotic soul, if a bit inconsistant. --- r stanton <industrialrobot@hotmail.com> wrote:

I'll agree with this review for sure. I think its actually kind of comparable to lily of the valley, but with a much stronger devine influence. Its very good though, if you like the glitchy beats + melody. It hasn't worn out on me yet. Right now i'm really digging the Joseph Nothing 12" on planey mu. Very reminicient of bodgan stuff....very very nice. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Justin Lovero" <jmlnews@yahoo.com> To: "r stanton" <industrialrobot@hotmail.com>; <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 2:52 PM Subject: Re: [idm] album questions
