Best store for the most IDM related stuff I've seen here is Jam records in the Wallingford district (45st. N between Bayliss and Cornwall?). Actually, Jimmy the owner is very good friends with the owner of NoiseNoiseNoise records in Costa Mesa, CA.. so the two stores are actually comparable, if you've been to one or the other. Anyway, it's right next to the big glass TacoTime. There's also Beats International, which used to be mainly house, but have branched out a bit the last year. They cover all the angles of house, the good ones especially. Off Olive just east of I-5 when it curves on a hill. between downtown and Capitol Hill. There's a jungle/dnb offshoot store just up the hill from the brand new Beats International digs. Platinum records is the premiere "Me Dj, yo" store in Seattle..(whether that's a good or bad thing is your take). Hip-hop, breaks, house, some experimental, DJ gears, etc. Off Pike(?) just east of Broadway in Capitol Hill. Frequency 8 in Capitol Hill is good for the techno/trance heads (unless they've branched out since). Also Orpheum records is good as a general music store.. they have some dance records upstairs. No listening stations. Sonic Boom records in the Fremont district has some dance, but is mostly the indie indie store. No listening stations. Been to Fallout and Singles Going Steady once each. Mostly punk. That's just in Seattle city proper. I'm sure there are other stores in the surrounding cities and suburbs. (Isn't there a good store in the eastside, like Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, etc.) Sorry, not too many crossstreets and phone numbers here.. but hopefully the names are spelled right, and you have plenty of 411 quality time. ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> "Run for the hills.... and hide your ho's" ======================================================================= --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i do most of my shopping @ beats international, but would encourage folks to check out wall of sound, too. i usually find cd gems and the odd 12". they're on 2nd and (i think) bell, across from mama's. it's also easy to order and pick up from groovetech if there's something you can't find in the flesh. s., who still hasn't checked out jam On Thu, 15 Mar 2001, Brian MacDonald wrote:
