hello apologies if this has already been discussed (i just re-joined after a few months absence) anyone who has or bought the new Funckarma (part 4), can you give a short review or idea of what its like? im expecting not much alteration from their previous work but if thats so, then wonderful! also, has anyone heard this Crunch on Musik Aus Strom? after getting skimo's new release list, it certainly caught my attention with lines like ""I promise this is the by far best record we ever released on Musik Aus Strom....no ass-kissing!!! " and "Crunch manages to create a extremely warm feeling, the melodies are incredibly beautiful and the beats are just perfectly programmed. " thanks for any information. I picked this up over the weekend. Very nice. The funckarma folk seems to have hit a very rich seam and this ep, referred to as a taster for their upcoming album, is full of well put together crunchy and melodic electronica. There are 6 tracks though I've only got 5 to hand (recorded in the space I had so I could listen at work). WIERT - based around an electronic 'burble' which reminds me of a sample which came with Octamed on the Amiga. Beautiful yet frayed with the trademark funckarma intertwining melodies toward the end. ODD - the rhythm in this track seems based on pops & crackles.. ..nice. Some beautiful, almost church-organ-like sounds form the melodies here which sound almost as if they were being played in a different room - a nice effect. KIEL - sounds to me a little like andre esterman here (which is definitely not a bad thing!). Very laid back melody lazily moves behind some nicely clattery drums. LAWK 44 - loads of pops & crackles in this track as well. Builds beautifully. Strangely, the melodies in here remind me of what I remember of the first Mixmaster Morris album - something I haven't listened to in the longest time... LOLALA - fantastic track - builds from a very quiet collection of vaguely melodic static using piano & strings to a nicely lolloping, somewhat jazz-type feel, reminiscent of Mark Broom, Ed & Andy on the Repeats album.
