I totally agree: "IDM" is a non-inclusive inaccurate term, since there's nothing more "intelligent" about this music than other genres, nor is it always "danceable".

Because it's a stupid term... besides, it dosen't sound badass. You should call it "fucked-up electronic listening shit", or maybe something with even more profanity. swear words = cool.

Yeah, when in doubt, look at the liner notes. That's what I always do.

Sometimes it isn't even "music". That's why I tell everyone I listen to the sound of coprophagy. It's MUCH more fun to explain. And enough of all this drivel about elections & politics. The only thing that matters is that Gus Hall has passed away. And owning all of Kirk DeGiorgio's productions should be a requirement to discuss music on this list. That would only leave about 4 people, which should mean a manageable number of off-topic posts. J "You should dream more, Mr. Wormold. speaking of Kirk DeGiorgio, I pulled out all my old records this past weekend, so rich! Celectial Soul, in with their arps are my faves, just too beautiful... and Russ Gabriel's remix of Shambala is still the purest sounding old school IDM/techno track I have heard...talk about the essence... yay old records! nate On Wed, 8 Nov 2000, James R McPherson wrote:

Coprophagy a fancy name for eating shit. Don't you mean cacophony? Well, you might mean coprophagy...

Unfortunately, this election it is not drivel. It is very important, which you would know if you were paying attention. -lee
