I would like to appeal to the list members for some assistance.
I moved to Nashville two years ago from Tampa, Florida and have since fallen
out of the loop as far as IDM goes. (I know, it's my own fault.) But as far
as I can tell in the two years I've been here, there simply is no IDM scene.
If you can find a club spinning anything at all, it's almost always old
house stuff. You can't find the likes of anything cool in any store in the
area. There is not even ONE record store in all of "Music City" that caters
to the electronic scene more than a few Chemical Brothers albums and (if you
are lucky) the Richard D. James album.
I'm starving for something new. Can anyone recommend something new for me
based on what I already like?
Luke Vibert (and all of his aka's, especially PLUG!!), Neotropic, Autechre,
Subtropic, Aphex Twin (& all aka's), Mu-ziq, MeatBeat Manifesto, Kumo,
Witchman, Amon Tobin (and all of his aka's)
I also have these compilations:
The Knights Who Say Dot, Synoptics, Skampler, Avantgardism - Drum 'n' Bass,
Joint Ventures
So there you have it. The only other problem is that I'm limited to CD's.
What I love most is, Drum 'n' Bass/Jungle... and the Bleeps and Bloops of
the likes of Autechre, AFX, and some of the Dot artists I've heard. So
anyone would be so kind as to offer up information about that one or two
CD's in your collection that you just can't live without. I would be very
grateful.
