got a package today from The Music Cartel - the strange little label that licensed Panacea's "Twisted Designz" and the Electric Lounge comp - and i'm trying to make sense of the one-sheet for Zenith's _Flowers of Intelligence_. according to the all-holy press info, "Zenith is Federico Franchi." ...producing under the names Vana Imago and Shadow Dancers ... tracks licensed to Urban (PolyGram) and Bonzai (BMG) ... hits such as "Raise Your Power," "Sonar Impulse," and "Alternative Creators." ... "Inspired by Aphex Twin and by the enormous talent of the modern compositors [sic] like Steve Reich and Miles Davis, Federico goes to intelligent techno. But Italy did not provide him with many outlets for his music, so he decided to create his own label, Trance Communications Records. The label was founded with Mario Di Giacomo and immediately garnered a lot of attention. It was because of these early recordings that he attracted the attention of Aphex Twin. His early recordings were licensed directly to their Rephlex label." ... "The first record Federico created was with just a basic midi computer; after that he joins his best friend for the creation of a home recording studio (Cut Records Studio) where he created his first big productions as Vana Imago and Shadow Dancers." huh? seems someone got his Federico factsheet crossed with Gianluigi di Constanzo's. IS there any Bochum Welt/Zenith connection? pHlow? mr. e. now on: operating theatre: rapid eye movements (united dairies)

obviously based on the trance communications link, there is a connection. gian knows these guys but the relationship isn't that good, from what i understand. to the best of my knowledge , none of their tracks were ever licensed to rephlex, so that part at least sounds like a freudian slip (or wishful thinking) np: joy division: she's lost control peeeeeece, -- Jeff Davis pHlow@earthlink.net fn:216.533.6303 fx:216.266.2310 text:2165336303@mobile.att.net pHlow.linx: home.earthlink.net/~phlow/ Bochum Welt: www.bochumwelt.com Rotator Locator: hyperreal.org/music/rotator/
