Someone posted a message in the last digest, saying about his radio station mailing list and how he once joined the list to do all these noble things, but the responce was hate mail.
I accidentally deleted that mail, but this is in responce to that msg.
That kind of thing, unfortunately is bound to happen when you have a mass-marketed thing, whether it's free or not. it's out there for the masses.
When the Aphex Twin MP3 Archives were up, the owner constantly got a shitload of mail from thousands of people around the world. However, the majority of them did not include thanks for putting up the extensive collection, or work involved in putting the site up, or even the fact that the guy was offering all these files, and using up valuable bandwidth on his ISP, to give these files to the world. The majority of them included mails from users flaming/bitching about not being able to get on, and that the site sucks, and that it shouldn't have a userlimit, etc..
People just don't appreciate when they are getting a free service brought to them, to just appreciate it and not complain about it. :I
Unfortunately, most of us I'm sure and even me, have been guilty of this at some point :I
