hey, folks, there's an I in idm. use your brain. if you're going to dismiss music before listening to it, just don't bother with any of it. i thought the first N to X (wires of our nerves) was annoying and dull. too experimental, without hanging together. but the new record (avant hard) is epochal and fine. a special taste is required to listen to noise, of course, but they do it in style. heavy drum tracks (new wave rhythms, really) with heaping analog noise on top. the new one is more mature, the tunes are more cohesive. they use samples of eerie laughter and whinnying horses to make it spooky. quite distinctive sounding.
