Well if I were you, I wouldn't expect too much sympathy for that remark - Im thinking your doorstep will *not* clutter up with sympathetic care packages from around the globe because you can't sell your plates to some rich spotter with more money than sense ! ;) Seriously though, whether you love or hate the raw capitalist auction forces one could easily make the arguement that the astronomical fees paid for records on ebay put a previously unknown pressure on artists & labels to re-release various masterpieces.. Too many anecdotes of classics raking in well over $200 turn limited run art-records into high-priced, coveted commodities - an effect that is probably goes against the grain of the values held by the music's creators. Ambiant Otaku, Hi Scores, Joyrex's, and others were repressed at least in part because of the 'ebay effect'.. Now I hear the AFX Hangable Auto bulbs and Gak might be put on one CD for this same reason, and the Black Dog stuff could be another example. Im not saying ebay = repress, but auctions and their legendary effects on what collectors pay are now being mentioned more and more on PR releases announcing represses of various works. If you hated ebay before, perhaps there is a silver lining contrasting with the perceived evil of this new market force. ernie Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-4202 Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Fort Worth, Texas --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
