Okay, so I don't have gigantic gobs of money with which to explore Kraftwerk's old albums. I see there is this cd, _The Mix,_ for sale for $12 near me. Is this a compilation of various old songs, or are they remixed or somesuch? My little web searches thus far are not finding any in depth info, so I turn to you, O idm-listers. I want an assortment of Kraftwerk goodness. Kraftwerk or Boards of Canada. Kraftwerk of Boards of Canada. It was recorded after Ralf and Florian had heard a lot of music out in clubs, and it's supposed to be a bit of an update for the times. Unfortunately, I think that means it sounds far more locked in its time than the others, because they're employing the conventions of club culture circa '91. I'd suggest finding 'Computer World', if you're wanting a starter for their electro-inspiring sound. Most people would probably recommend 'Trans-Europe Express', but I just don't get into that many of the songs on there. Michael OnNow: 'Cajun Moon' - J.J. I respectfully disagree. I'd own this - even though I know people who pan it - simply for the mix of "Pocket Calculator/Dentaku". Of course, I've owned everything they've recorded and would recommend of most of it. BTW, a lot of what they played on their last tour were versions very close to those on "The Mix". They sounded fine to me. jeff Michael Upton wrote:

***Jeff: Avoid Kraftwerk's "The Mix". It is Kraftwerk themselves dancing up their classics for the 80s--go for the BOC. My 2 cents. Andrew Jeff Pitrman wrote:
