Just writing what was in the Jockey Slut clubbin pages, Nubients only on on Sundays, so guess they just had to arrange it for then! This is definitely going quite far afield, but the Virgin Encyclopedia of Popular Music lists his birthplace as Truro, Cornwall. It sounds about right to me, even though Virgin and Colin Larkin have been rumored to print intentionally wrong information so as to more easily spot people who have stolen their facts. In an interview for DotMusic, Richard himself gave his birthplace as Limerick, Ireland; obviously, we all know his own penchant for mis-information, but does anyone have the real goods on his hometown? .John.

Can't see why he'd lie about his birthplace really, on the Caustic Window comp. too, it says Made in Ireland, but of course I don't know ... but apparently he was brought up in Lanner, not Truro, it's a tiny wee village a few miles outside of Redruth, set amongst the most ravishing countryside you could ever imagine, & nearby, the most beautiful secluded beaches and lots of wicked secret caves to explore, all the narrow little windy lanes with their high, high hedges all covered in purple foxgloves and the clifftops amass with wild flowers ... and when the pressure's low, some awesome surf a'rollin in, yehhhhhhh! can't wait, am off down there next week, only hope the blinkin sun will deign to shine down upon us, for once, this summer! aless
