Dynamo voraus / auben vor (din002) Pole - Raum Eins / Raum Zwei (din no cat. #) Run don't walk to the nearest store and buy any din that you can get your hands on - take it home listen to it 3 or 4 times and let the brilliance seep into your brain via your ears. The din label takes up where chain reaction and basic channel left off - but whereas repetitive 4/4 beats were the standard with cr/bc the din artists strive for more interesting percussion - complex broken beats that 'chatter' away weaving amongst the deep/dark backing and melody. Dynamo's style is reminiscent of Autechre especially in the percussion but dynamo is at play in a lower octave with low brooding melodies that echo throughout the songs and thick/deep fore-grounded bass lines. The overall effect is nothing short of brilliant - all of the elements combine to create outstanding and surprisingly groovy tracks. The two 'a' tracks start with a percussive break and gradually layer in an ambient background and weave melodies over the top whereas the b1 leaps straight into a groove. The b2 begins at a higher pitch blending seemingly random percussive/squelchy noises before slowly drawing it all together for a melodic conclusion. More ambient and less percussion orientated the pole 12" is equally as interesting as Dynamo's effort. The 'Raum Eins' track utilizes deep ambient bass lines, percussion welded out of echoing pops and clicks, layered with electricity buzzes, hisses of noise and short melodic bursts of sounds Pole's room 1 and room 2 take you on an engaging meandering journey. 'Raum Zwei' is in a similar style. The track begins with mad pops and crackles, sounding like the vinyl is decaying while you listen. Deep ambient melodies and other echoing noises gradually join the fray resulting in another stunning track. Din defies accurate description the best thing to do is listen for yourself, but I highly recommend it to everyone especially fans of Autechre, Musik Aus Strom and the Basic Channel, Chain Reaction style. Dynamo - 9/10 Pole - 8.5/10 phylistine - Looking forward to getting my copy of Din001 :) np - dodgy local industrial radio show

If you enjoy those two releases you may want to get the v/a: 8, 8.5, 9 12" on FatCat, the Pole ep on the Kiff label, and any Dynamo & Traktor label releases. All are similar in style to the din stuff.

Isn't that one the Monolake Arte/Occem 12"? That is a good one too. I believe both of those tracks are on the Chain Reaction Monolake cd. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Nope, Din001 is Dynamo - "aufenthalt". An excellent record. The monolake 12" on din is later in the series, and yes, both tracks are on the "Hong Kong" disc. Bill
