It seems to capture as much subtlety in the original signal as I can hear. Sound is pretty subjective, though. It also has a 20-bit SPDIF output so its D/A stage can be bypassed, even though it sounds good, too. If you can wait, the next generation of affordable cards will have digital inputs as well. Not sure if this card is up to professional standards, but the sound its A/D converter produces is very sharp, near enough for the price and indistinguishable to my (silly) ears. If it matters to anyone here with a social conscience, Borders is unfair to labor, not allowing its employees to organize unions. Conscience tends to fade when you're holding the CD you want in your hands, but if you don't go in the store, this won't happen. Take care. I must have blinked, but WHY is this quasi political debate coming in under the subject heading of SB AWE64 ?? I'm using this sound card which has given me no grief. Only thing I'd like to ask about is : I went to the Black Dog site for the "Babylon" RealAudio clips (thank you for the link, Greg Clow!) and even though they play through, I get a kind of "crrrssshhh" sound intermittently. Is this bad quality generalised to RealAudio? Or is it me? I don't often use the facility, so I can't compare. And *please* could people replying to the Digest use an appropriate header in the subject field? It would make life so much sweeter :-) I *
