man, i don't know about you guys, but I sure think Boards of Canada are the "next big thing". these are two seriously good songs. cant wait for the full album. roygbiv - starts all groove-like, in the board style. nice crunchy beat, with a pretty melody overlay. some strange samples pop in as usual, but they make it add to the "percussion". rather short, but niiice. telephasic workshop - this is a sweet track. great beat, with a cool melody overlay. this continues for 3:10 or so, but dosen't get boring. then it gets amazing. this vocal sample is chopped to match with the beat, they turn the sample in to the beat of the track. something I have never really heard before. its the most amazing percussion i have heard. (aside from some gescom.) other vocals are added for some more rythym. crazy good. although it's only 2 tracks from the forthcoming WARP album, it more than whets the appetite for some BoC. where did these guys come from?! (rhetorical) i do have mp3s if anyone wants to trade or something. as well as the aquarius/chinook 7". which is also completly amazing. Shane the review isnt much, but hey, i dont work for a magazine.
