Hey all you kids out there! Hardy of Spymania played me a couple of excellent records on a US label called Dropbeat, a 12" and a 7", sort of Squarepusher type affairs, and quite influenced by Spymania / Drill and Bass IMO. They contain some pretty hard drums and distortion with a liberal dosing of noise! nice! Does anybody know anything about these? Any other releases planned? phew! i was getting worried for a while, i havent heard anything new and good for about three months now!! k.F.

The drop beat label is an outgrowth of drop beat records, a store here in Oakland, CA where I tend to lose most of my income. =) There are three releases on the drop beat label, a 7" by Chessie, a 12" by David Kristian - excellent minimal experimental drum & bass with nice programming and another 12" by Downpour. The 7" has been out for over 6 months and the 12" are just out recently if officially distributed at all yet. Info on the store and label is online at http://www.dropbeat.com/ Joe (:Joe Rice:________________:ambient@netcom.com:______________:joe@ednet.net:) (:"Oh, the turntables are his instruments!" :) (:"But I can't tell what sound that record is making!" :) (:"I know! He puts them on and off and you never know! I've never seen :) (: anything like it!" :)
