I would say that the entire music industry is influenced by hip-hop and
that the american film/MTV industry is too. It is difficult to
imagine that contemporary western culture has not been influenced by
hip-hop. I would say that Warp and almost all other labels that we speak
of on this list have been influenced by hip-hop in a major way, whether
they know their influences or not. It is of major importance to me as a
programmer or writer of electronica. I probably receive more inspiration
from hip-hop, architecture and design than I do anything discussed on
this list.
