Although not everyone on the list seemed overjoyed with this release, personally I think it's the best thing Mike P. has done since his first two RePHLeX records (I like it better than most of Urmur Bile as well). A brilliant combination of jazz and electronica with a smattering of hip-hop thrown in for good mesure (nice 303 work too). Much more fully realized than the Jake Slazenger releases I thought, which seemed a bit watered down. The Gary M. record has the same sort of freshness (no pun intended) and playful experimentation that has been lacking in mike's output of late with the exception of the new one. The best comparison I think would be to the Lisa Carbon Trio. Be sure to get the limited viynl with the bonus 7', as it has a great house track not included on the CD. -Gonzi

I listened to it, it sounded pretty cool, but I like the Jake Slazenger releases better.. heh.. The 'Urmer Bile Trax' experimentation was a failure.. time for something new (I hope). some of the tracks are ok, but most of them don't even have too much of a beat. The single referred to is called 'Mooking' and the CD release (which I have - although also available on 2 peices of vinyl) includes the tracks 'Son of Mooking' and 'Get some sleep tiger' - only one of which appears on 'Prince Blimey'. Both tracks have that funky car chase feel to them. The two other tracks are remixes of these 2 tracks by, respectively, Depth Charge and Plaid. Both mixes are excellent. The Depth Charge one almost entirely removes all elements of the original track. The Plaid mix takes the original and gradually converts it to their way of thinking with synth sounds.
