I've got them all and love 'em to bits...but I would :]
Out of the 6 releases 4 are aimed at the dance floor and two are for the
smokey lounge room. The dance tracks range from the brilliant to the
average (average, that is, depending on my mood); most of them are
designed for the climax of a set with a slightly epic overtones - but
without getting cheezy like most dance tunes of that ilk. I play them
when I'm feeling a bit hyperactive and/or no-one's in the house.
My favourites tho' are "Robots and Humanoids" and "Cold Warrior" the two
slower EPs. The former has tracks which are a lush cross between "The
Number Of Magic" and "Closed Circuit" (a very cool double CD on
ambient-list Label of the Month(TM) Beyond). The last release, the "Cold
Warrior" EP is my EP of the year (followed by the recent Scorn 12 on
Possible Rec): "Witch Hunt" plays with funk but remains just below the
threshold of getting you out of your seat (er..sometimes) - I think he's
playing guitar on this one; I thought "Modern Art" was a nice (but
strange) pop tune with its latin samples and female vocal (African?)
snippet until the third listen when I started noticing the "subliminal"
sounds in the background; BTW Bill Laswell samples "Walk East" in the
Material track "Ghost Light/Dread Recall" on the new Axiom Dub
compilation ( Ahh ... now, Laswell and Kirk would have to be my ultimate
dream Superhero Team-Up(TM)).
The highlights of the series have been released by Touch on a limited
edition (1000?) double CD.
The last Sandoz CD on Touch "Every Man Got Dreaming" is also excellent
(not terribly amibient tho').

I guess the people saying this would probably get on well with those
complaining about Bill Laswell's bass :^j
