++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Can't stop the roller-coaster, just ride the rhythms and keep listening. Music, sometimes it's like being lost in an alien landscape without a map; its one of life's simple pleasures, but there seems to be a conspiracy of confusion and complexity. New styles, hybrids, different tangents, a truck load of terminology and jargon, but believe me you don't need the lexicon of the terminally hip to enjoy it. As dance music has fractured into all these kaleidoscopic variations maybe it's best to just get into the trip and appreciate these exciting times. There's some stunning music being made as we approach a pivotal point in history, but who will make the music for the next age? Out of the melting pot of tradition and modernity the new breed is forged, some strange alchemy fusing history and the future, opening new doors without slamming those behind -- running a thread through it all to create the ultimate patchwork, as if music might now achieve what Einstein couldn't, a grand unification of theory, some soulful sonic science. Uh, color me completely completely confused, but I have the exact same verbiage in rebirth of cool vol 4, c 1996, 4th and Bway USA release (162-531-074-2). WIth tracks by by smoke city, iO, Outside, Nicolette, Lamb, LTJ Bukem, Nitin Sawhney, Da Lata, Akasha, Alex Reece, Ernest Ranglin, etc. Did you make a typo when you mentioned "volume 6", or is the number on the rebirth of cool series as fucked up as i think it is? To make things even more confusing, I also have a "made in england" "rebirth of cool 4" (c 1994 BRCD 607 524 040 2)) with tracks by DJ Krush, Simple E, Groove Collective, Courtney Buchanan, Ronny Jordan, The Pharcyde, Tranquility Bass, Tricky, Justin Warfield, FMob, OUtside, Palmskin Productions, Tone Productions, Mondo Grosso, Burning Spear, Bread and Butter. To put the final spin on my confusion, I hear talk about a "rebirth of cool vol 5" which supposedly contains "jazzy drum and bass and brazilian, indian" but that sounds surprisingly like my copy of the domestic "vol. 4" mentioned above. Anybody gots da straight poop on these? Anybody have a track listing of all the Rebirth of Cool releases and the differences between the UK releases and the US releases? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= == Niels Mayer -- http://www.eit.com/~mayer -- mayer@netcom.com == == When yer swimming in a creek and an eel bites yer cheek, that's a moray!== =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: 2.6.3 mQCNAzJKOnMAAAEEAMD9U5YD2wiMJU7vUYq1uqBB9M2sf9CuOhHRM5oYTygDMQGP Ot928KtN3/2jHlYSmGHceZZYtCUdISievlNPD5+JgrHCtU3rFfvzWJuMsODGSoo1 X3csx0aEvAfkHh+fHWs04iU7Sm5t8fp31PP5DPf9KEJIsX2Y63ZBlPtktX29AAUR tCFOaWVscyBQLiBNYXllciA8bWF5ZXJAbmV0Y29tLmNvbT6JAJUDBRAySjpzdkGU +2S1fb0BAWT1BACH1GWBrkYufLb2KN5nyqB5r2TyqeqgNirOSpuQT9a4ozFAqSiM M8k+w+uj+VAMwugKdz9kL41thUCY+FI/jv4SPQzbwkY2mJs80YLJEqWA0OKUcI2F naYvMJo2zKS9jjAEX6hT5No4ZUK9hS8sREcHI2twdrJ66zExV3s6xUlSUQ== =RUx1 -----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----

OK. I'm looking at my record and it has the same exact artists but in the front cover it has "The Rebirth of Cool Six" with a black woman and a black child being sprayed by a fire hydrant. Is that the same one as yours? Mine has the Jungle Brothers' remix of "Who could it be". Is this the same record?

I made no mistake in typing. I think there is something fishy going on here....

My record also says made in England.

Hmmm...I'd sure like to clear that up since I'm definitely looking into getting some of the older releases of this series.
