i've misplaced jon's review, but god i hope not. i finally heard "explosive" the other day (knowingly, anyway; i heard it in the shops when the promos were circulating months ago and almost sprained my wrist seizing it of the deck). i've never considered fsol particularly derivative (well, their source material is, but what they do with it, imo, isn't), nor would i (at least six months ago) have been very quick to speak their name and the word "pandering" in the same breath, but now i'm not so sure... the world didn't even need _one_ chemical brothers... sc onnow: atom heart : mono tm (rather interesting)

sorry sean, usually i agree with what you say but you need to give it another listen. it doesn't sound anything like the chem bros... WAY harder and more abrasive. also much more technoish. chembros are more like hip hop beats with acid squiggles on top. there's no comparison... anyway, yes, herd killing is probably the same as we have explosive (herd killing) since a lot of the same sounds are in both herd killing and we have explosive on the album. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Drukman jsd@cyborganic.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------
