Went to see Crystal Method play at an old warehouse/gym type place last night. 4 DJs played from about 11:30pm til about 3:45am, then the duo came on. They had two keyboards, one of which I could clearly see was an Ensoniq TS-10 or 12 (sampling keyboard). The other guy had some sort of digital synth, but it was spitting out the fattest analogue sounding basses I'd heard all night! They played for about 45-50 minutes, included their remix of (pretty boy) Keoki's Caterpillar, and their track from the Trip Hop Test 2 "Keep Hope Alive". Their other songs were in the same hip-hop flavored beat vain. I was most impressed that at least one of them actually _played_ his keyboard... obviously the guy on the Ensoniq had to stay on the ball with loading all those drum loops, but I thought he could've played around a little bit more than he did. All in all, it was worth it. Especially the DJ who was on right before the group started... he got the crowd going by playing floor-filler after floor-filler. Best vibed (P.L.U.R.) event I've gone to yet... just about everybody was dancing, on and off the "floor". -- guyjr@cc.gatech.edu a.k.a., Guy Elden Jr.
