yes yes i know that some poor drip asks a redundant question like this about once a week ..... well its my turn. i'm going to san fransisco next week with my girl for a little vacation and i'd like to know if there are any weekly idm style evenings/chill spaces that are worth checking out. it could be worse... i could be asking if anyone knows how to pronounce autechre. ::rex c. arthur:: :: voyager co. :: :: nyc ::

It's pronounced "Autechre"... Sorry. I couldn't resist. As far as Sf goes, check out Mad. I don't remember where they moved to but I'm sure Joe can fill you in of he's still on the list. If the Gardening Club is still on, you should check that out. Nope, it ended last year. I don't think there's anything I'd particulary recommend weekly wise here, although there's a new Wed. techno club call Jackin' the Box (I think). Check hyperreal for the calendar. Do you know about the Eno / Laurie Anderson event in San Francisco on June 8th? I would compromise selected principles to attend, but here I am in debauched Philadelphia, the IDM capitol of Southeastern Pennsylvania. If you're on the Left Coast, don't miss it. An update for San Franciscans about my earlier post: Drop Beat presents jazz the kitchen sink! trip hop your mama's cafe ambient 5239 college avenue, oakland soul sundays, 4-8 pm funk starting june 9 out-rock drum & bass techno dub experimental However debatable some of the above categories are, Mike at Mod Lang has great taste in music, and this should be a treat.
