Well here's all the info from Tom that I asked him about including a possible place for you to buy Gigapus + Metapus... Msg: #5337 (of 5338) - Music Press (-) for Original Msg #5336 From: Tom Ellard Date: 14-May-96 15:41:10 To: John Bus Rcvd: 16-May-96 Subj: New SH music in the forseeable future JB> You were working on a whole album of similar music, to Piscatorial. What's the JB> current status of this project, will it be a Severed Heads release? If JB> not, what name will it be under? It will be a Severed Heads release and the priority on it is low. It's code named Dazzling Chunderstorms for the meantime. The works in progress now are: Severything - 173 SH tracks on one MPEG disc. Complete. CokloPops - Coklacoma album - near finished. Haul Ass - SH Album - started. High Rise - Game - licensing being arranged. 1,001 Recorders - CDROM - technical discussions with US company. The main hold up is trying to find a new label, who won't go bankrupt with my money. All SH questions are answered on severed-heads@next.com.au on a daily basis, depending on the traffic about Mexican Wrestling Masks. Anything you like. It is worth mentioning http://sevcom.com, especially as it is getting a face lift real soon now. JB> 2) Where do you come up with your great album titles?? There is a real ambient CD called dazzling thunderstorms, I have it as a point of analysis in conversations we're having about our release - like "This CD is this long and costs this and is distributed there and there." It is not what we are doing. We are making a disc that will play for 8 hours straight, that can be used as a long form backdrop for an environment. JB> 3) Did Volition go bust? Or are you talking about an o/s label?? I am no longer working with Volition. The reasons being that the more I give them the more seems to pour into a hole at the bottom of their finances. They have lost Itch-E, us, Boxcar, Vision 45, probably others. I can't actually say they have gone bust but I will no longer conceal that they owe me money. JB> Finally I know about the SH list. Remembering I was one of the early Just to say that anybody else who wants info can go to the list 'cause I can't always answer all my private mail. What's an "MPEG disc"? Some new format I haven't heard of? Like a mini-disc but holds 10 times as much? DVD format? I haven't heard of a standardized format for a disc that contains MPEG-ized audio data before ... Nice to see that Tom is still alive and well. In the Know Your History dept., I'd require everyone to give a gander to his early albums "Since The Accident" (1984) and "City Slab Horror" (1985). Two of the most amazingly sonically crafted electronic albums ever made. I can't even begin to describe how amazing these records were, other than to say that with a pair of headphones, a box of Nitrous whippets and the volume up high, they will change your life. (-: One thing Tom has over the current crop of Electronica artists: He can actually come up with good album/song titles. Mike P. may have some whacky ones of his own, but I haven't seen any recent Techno artist come anywhere near titles like "... Now an Explosive New Movie", "Acme Instant Dehydrated Boulder Kit", "The Ant Can See Legs", "Gnashing The Old Mae West", etc. Everybody else is just an amateur compared to Tom Ellard. - Greg

Actually I got a german issue of Gigapus through cdeurope. Check their listings. I remember seeing several flavors of the disc (both cd and cd-rom). A bit pricy (paid 27 for the cd), but until it *possibly* gets released here, it was the only route I found. telnet cdeurope.com or www.cdeurope.com For me it was worth every penny. jmar. throwing on ANIMal now... | J M R T N K O | fonstrosities and other toys by ILLGBLITY ENGNRING. | | D S G N E T C | JOHN-A MARTINKO, w. desk chief martinko@netcom.com |

regarding the new Severed Heads release: rumour has it that the record will be released stateside on Decibel records located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. this label has put out the likes of Alien Faktor, impact test, and Oneroid Psycosis as well as some other 'dark' ambient. i'm not sure of any dates, but i thought this info would help. saiki
