It don't mean nothing man, it just sounds funny (nothing to do with Durex)

As the Firesign Theatre once said, "You can't know what you don't mean." Given that I've got a BA in English, I can come up with an even more mal-appropriate explanation of joyrex. It refers to James Joyce, the reigning all time champion of wordplay in the English language. Joyce took the etymological roots of his own name very seriously, and thought it significant that Joy(ce) was similar to Sigmund Freud's name (Freude == Joy in german). He also named his daughter Lucy after St. Lucia (Lucia-->Lux == light in latin), patron saint of the blind, as he had lifelong trouble with his own vision. So Mr. James (another James, eh?) is saying 'Joy(ce) is the King.' As I've pointed out before on IDM, there are certain preoccupations that come up again and again in RDJ titling that gives you some insight into the twisted little boffin that he is. Brand Names (Alberto Balsam, Tamphex) Chemical names (some of which are manglings of the ingredient lists of shampoos), drug names (Ventolin) and of course anagrams. What does this say about Mr. James? Uhh...that he's an asthmatic who spends a lot of time washing his hair and doing Jumbles in the newspaper. And he's not even begun to scratch the surface on the anagrams. For example: Richard David James == Ha! Mad jaded Vicar, Sir! Discard Dharma Jive! Varied hard disc jam. Scram, divided rajah! Divided car, ham jars. Analogue Bubblebath == Notable algae hubbub. O, a ten laugh bulb, babe! Bobble a gun, hula beat! 'Aloha,' began bulb tube. Bang! Thee Lulu Baobab! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally, I love nothing more than to jam out to a greasy groove. -- A Guy Named Phillip Kent Williams kent@inav.net (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)
