i've a few questions about the chemical brothers. i read somewhere that they used to be called the dust brothers but they had to change their name for legal reasons. so were they the same dust brothers that produced paul's boutique by the beastie boys? or is that why they had to change their name? also, none of the stores aroud my area have any of their releases. are they hard to find in the US? do my stores just suck? that's always a possibility... so what's the deal? are they worth the effort of finding them? thanks for any and all replies! alan! onnow: "into the blue" (simple mix) : moby ---------------------------- Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the men of old; seek what they sought. -Basho

The Dust Brothers on Paul's Boutique are the lousy rotten scallywags who made them change their name. I guess the Chems could have called themselves Dust Brothers U.K., but that's been played out. True the stuff is kind of hard to find, as is most stuff on Astralwerks, considering how easy it should be. It's not like Astralwerks used to have stuff at every Best Buy on the planet. Tower usually has Chemical Bros. music. You should check out their remix of Jailbird by Primal Scream. Awsum. So is the Charlatans vs. Mistress ov Dust

Chemical Brothers hard to find? That's disheartening -- because it means that the record store isn't ordering it. It's currently in print, and any number of small to large distributors carry it. If you can, ask your record store to order it for you. I've probably already crowed about it, but I'm WAY spoiled living in Iowa City, where we have 6 record stores (3 of them world class) within a two block radius downtown. My friend who owned a store sold 15-20 copies of 'Exit Planet Dust' to high school students (!). If you're not getting any cooperation locally, check http://www.hyperreal.com/music/rotator/ for good stores near you or, for an excellent mail order service, check http://www.xmission.com/~ear/ It's Ear/Rational Music, but it's really a Guy Named Dave. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Home Page: http://I.m.too.dumb.to.hack.html/~kent Kent Williams kent@inav.net (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)

And unbelievable too, since probably the Hell freezes over, before we can finally get rid of them! ;) Who else thinks that the Bros have gotten away with an ingenious scam by making totally similar-sounding records, with the same *jaded* hip-hop/electro/acid samples every fucking time, and getting them all to charts; not to talk about making it to the cover of every bleeding "indie" and trendspotter magazine... The ChemBros are The Monkees of techno, though I actually liked the Monkees ;) So that's only how I can enjoy them: as the stupid fun they can be, when they reach their best ;) The brothers gonna work it out - and laugh all the way to bank! ;) ERkki when you laugh, they can't kill you trerra@uta.fi

what chris wrote: Groove and glide on a techno ambient ride through cyberspace with the two most influential people in electronic music today! What Chris meant to Write: Crap and attitude on a definite non techno, no way near ambient ride through fake live performances. Two of the most ugly people in electronic music today.
