Bought a copy of Phylyps trak II (BC09/BCO9) recently, and listening
to it I am struck by how heavily the structure of the track is
essentially dub/reggae. There's the off-beat synth sound, with
minimal amounts of reverb and effects and a pounding bassy rhythm,
plus intermittent clanks and bangs. Extend the effects and change the
b-line from its current bumpy self to a more solid bass sound and
you're there straight away - practically something off the Power
Steppers' LP! (yes, buy "Bass Enforcement" on sight if you liked
their track on Planet Dub!)
Also bought the new no label M5 (the latest Maurizio I can only
presume), similar style to the above, not quite as good as not so
many things happening, but overall quality is up to the mark as far
as BC tracks are concerned.
