Can anyone tell me the label this is on and how (un)limited its availibility is?

They ARE totally cheesy...thats the whole point. As far as pop with a twist goes, they can't be beat. BTW, they have a song "Filthy" on the Trip Hop Test, Volume 1 thats sounds absolutely nothing like them. Where in the hell did that track come from? When I first heard it, I thought it was a typo on the cd sleeve. MC

Heavenly, UK. Originally part of a limited 2-CD set with _So Tough_. Should still be available as an import.

This song was a b-side to one of the singles from the first album. It is available on _You Need a Mess of Help..._

It's the b-side of "Only Love Can Break Your Heart", which (on CD) also has a 9-minute (or so) Andy Weatherall Game of Two Halves mix. Both songs are sublimely cheesey - if that's possible - and worth getting if you see 'em secondhand somewhere. Rob.

St Etienne do a whole mixed bag of stuff, from cheesy pop to ambient instrumentals. Albums to recommend are all of 'em...hence Fox Base Alpha So tough. Tiger Bay Theres also a b-sides album called 'You need a mess of help to stand alone'. Singles, as far as I can remember are as follows.... Nothing can stop us now (VERY old) Only love can break your heart. Join our club/ people get real. Avenue. (Also an excellent remix Cd availible). You're in a bad way. I'm too sexy (From the Fred ep). Who do you think you are? (Including some TOP aphex remixes). I was born on christmas day. (With some twat from the charlatens). Pale movie. Hug my soul. Like a motorway (Almost Kraftwek-esq). I think thats the lot in chronological order...I may have missed a few as I'm doing it from memory. Just finish by saying look out for the new single..."He's on the phone"..... Sorry to those who regard St Etienne as too cheesy, but they DO always manage to produce the goods... Dukeduvet.

Also interesting Saint Etienne material includes the US cd5 for "Who Do You Think You Are" which contains 4 paltry Roger S. remixes that'll make you look at your calendar to make sure it's not 197x, and 2 interesting Autechre-like Aphex Twin mixes. I'd also suggest the "Like a Motorway" UK cd5, which has a remix by Rick Smith of Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, and David Holmes. The b-side is a lush remix by Autechre. Simply ace. And if you can find it, I think it's the May Select (UK mag) that has the "vocal mix" of the Chemical Brothers remix from above. Very very nice. Awww yeah.
