Is it grey/gray, tire/tyre, hood/bonnet, truck/lorry, bog/can,
yadda yadda.
Reminds me of the line from the XTC song "Respectable Street"
where all the words are different in Yank-speak: "... and the
caravans that never move from their front gardens."
Just keep in mind, you brits, that we put Madonna cassettes into
the jungles of Borneo, Disneyland into france, and candy bar wrappers
on top of Everest. There's your new world order!
Contrast with England: The Brits lost India because they couldn't
keep one skinny little bald guy down!
Back to the REAL subject at hand. The boys at Warners may not have
been overjoyed at Aphex Twin sales, but they've heard the records --
it's not going to go over big with the Boyz II Men and Green Day
fans. All I heard is that they're not interested in any new
ambient projects.
I imagine "I care because you do" moved 50,000 units on the strength
of the Rolling Stone review alone. Which makes me laugh until the
milk comes out my nose, thinking of some twee CPA bringing home 'I
Care' and throwing 'Ventolin' on the Bang & Olufson.
Every fucking time he comes out with a record, I rush down and buy
it, only to find it in the used bin a week later because someone
bought it and didn't 'get it.' Someday I'll learn.
