For those Seattleites smart enough not to listen to 107.7 "The End" - The Aphex Twin is listed on the radio ad for a big benefit concert at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds on Saturday July 22 featuring Bjork and lots of non-idm bands like Sky Cries Mary, the Foo-fighters, and lots more. PS - The Orb show in Portland was fantastic - very IDM, not very ambient at all ( just some in-between washes ). I understand that it was much better than the Seattle show. This was largely due to the venue. La Luna in Portland is a cool space and DV8 is small and crappy. I hear in Seattle they scrapped 80% of the light show ( in PDX I was blown away by the lights - they were some of the best I'd seen at any size show ). PT

I went up to Seattle for this, and much to my dissapointment no Aphex Twin to be found! Just a bunch of lame psuedo-alternative corporate "alternative" bands. What a waste of $25. The next night was scheduled to be in Portland Oregon, so I bought a ticket from a scalper (the show was sold out). Aphex Twin did show for this. My advice is for those going to the concert is to get their early, and even if you don't see the aphex twin chances are he is there (he was kneeling in front of a pair of turntables behind a huge stack of speakers on the side of the stage, just listen for the freaky wacked out music). I got a chance to meet him and he said that he lost 2 flight cases of records so he was pretty pissed off about that, and the reason he did not make Seattle was due to a flight fuck up. It is too bad they don't give him more time to dj, he was only spinning for about I hour, but then again how often do you get to see the aphex twin dj?
