I'm considering a few purchases and I thought this the best forum for discussion. Here they are; feel free to comment openly so I don't waste *too* much money. The liner notes indicate that this material was recorded before and during the _Man Amplified_ sessions. I guess they decided to concentrate on the MA material, and what was left was only recently released as _Digital Soundtracks_. DS suffers from a lack of coherency. Given the context of when this was recorded, it really does sound like outtakes and ideas which weren't quite up to going onto _Man Amplified_ (which I like a great deal - get the _Kinetic Engineering_ video!). Certainly not IDM. _Iran_ is a good example of their earlier sound which was rooted in a simpler faux-ethnic arabic percussion groove that is probably best represented by their _Coup D'Etat_ album. I'd go for _Zul'm_ myself.

The magic of the first Sandoz album is missing here, but there are some good tracks. Get _Digital Lifeforms_ first. Kirk has been amazingly prolific of late, but not exactly consistent.
