My musical roots:
- early days, listened to late 70's early 80's pop on the radio (uk)
- eventually developed a taste for more abrasive music - metal, hard
rock, classic 70's rock etc.
- penchant for thrash and punk led to indutrial, while also enjoying
a slight revival of the early 80's electro - pop ( Depeche mode etc)
(still listened to classic pop - pink floyd etc.)
- was immediately enticed by hardcore 'rave' stuff that a friend was DJing.
started buying enormous quantities of techno / industrial dance
and discovered that I much preferred this to 'rave'. At this
also discovered roots dub, and more ambient techno along side
the industrial side.
- Initially I was hooked on the sounds; the fact that a track could
consist of pure machine abuse and thumping kick drums etc. -
so radically different from current 'pop'
NOW, I feel I have a good feel for what is going on in the
ever changing dance music scene, and always keep an eye out
for those particular tracks which can capture true emotion,
= IDM.
