i'll have to agree with terre... and elaborate... in the beginning,
instinct was WAY ahead of any other american label...now, as more labels
have popped up... and branched off with new trends.. instinct has been
left with needing to find their OWN niche.. which, as terre said, they
are starting to do...having recently singed a bunch of east coast people
(myself also included) instinct is starting to build a strong base of
ARTISTS.. 1994 will bring many fewer compilations and more full-length
releases from artists (including acid jazz)... it might take a couple of
years.. but.. over time instinct will have their own sound and a
hopefully solid line of producers to carry the label intothe future.
it's not easy for a domestic label.. because so much Utechno gets bashed
simply because it's not from europe... unless it's way underground US
techno...
hopefully as time goes on the new breed of instinct artists will make an
impact..
i feel pretty positive about all the acts they've signed.. hopefully the
rest of the world will!
peace
