But im not at all talking about production technology. It doesn't matter to me if the synth sound is coming out of a moog, mpc, reason, fruity loops or cool edit, a synth sound is a synth sound. I'm talking about sampling in the tradition of hip hop as i've said a few times now. So taking a clip of an old 70's funk song and making techno out of it. I can honestly say i have no consciously heard any music or artists doing that, so that's why im asking. I know techno is close to house/disco house/etc so i want to express that looping a 70's disco track with some 909 on top and some chick moaning & singing overtop it all is not what im talking about... I mean gritty dirty DJ Muggs, DJ Format, Mark B, Old Beastie Boys, etc. Here's an example *kinda* what im talking about but even this is a bit too glitchy & crisp. Im looking for more 'low fi' type shit. http://www.zshare.net/audio/6127257c3d16a2/ Don't mean to be a fucker but im getting frustrated cuz it seems like im either not expressing myself clearly or else im not being understood properly. In either situation, i apologize. :D Isnt this fun? .M -----Original Message----- From: Ed Hoc [mailto:meatsock@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 9:59 PM To: mantrakid Subject: Re: [idm] Sample Based Techno those aesthetics would include just using a computer 'at this stage in the game', i.e. 2007, so what's the difference between a soft synth and a soft sampler?
