I wholeheartedly endorse the Mike Cooper recommendation - his work is
absolutely beautiful, and Brian's description, despite sounding like a
press release, is pretty damn accurate.
Also, for more recent, accessible work, Skalpel's self-titled on Ninja
Tune laces crackly jazz, lounge and gogo; which might be what you're
after.
