Certainly, the music is the focus of a release, but packaging and presentation can set the stage for the listener experience. Raster-Noton does a fantastic job of packaging their releases. Just seeing the way they present the music makes me want to hear more of it. I have a few of the POST series, and I want to hear the rest. I have some of the Static series, and I'd love to hear the rest. With Raster-Noton, the packaging and the music work together flawlessly. I'm always interested to see how a certain artist will interpret the idea behind the series for which they're creating that particular music. Yes, the music is the point, but I sure do appreciate when someone makes an effort to present it in interesting and/or exciting ways (see also Ae + Hafler Trio, or any other Hafler stuff, for that matter).
