Oh uh ummm...gee they're all so good. I mean, how do you choose JUST one? I guess I like that one track...what's the name...goes "WAAAAP BUH BUH BUH SCREEEEE"? That's a good starting point. I mean, it IS a little advanced to the average listener; he's practically a Miles Davis of electronic music (his last album is essentially the Bitches Brew of EDM, sooo difficult for me to wrap my head around). And then like...those other 2 songs he did? You know the ones I'm talking about right? Something about boomerangs and one about an annual eclipse? Yeah those are my favorite dope Skrillex beats. So... Merzbow - Silent Night Skrillex - Boomerangs Colonel Adams - Trapped Power Rangers - the green one Pizza - Pepperoni & Black Olive Hotel - Trivago ________________________________ From: Memjutsu <mehmet.ismail85@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, June 4, 2021 14:39 To: c. jones <coda27@hotmail.com> Cc: IDM List <idm@hyperreal.org> Subject: Re: Archetypical IDM Yeah but we’re talking tracks here. So which 3 Skrillex tracks? If I really liked them, maybe I'd recommend Girl/Boy song by Aphex Twin (that entire album is THE most archetypical work of mainstream IDM as far as I'm concerned, there were prominent online artists the following years that reinforced the sound more for me though...anyone remember MP3.com?) or really anything from Boards of Canada; Aphex & BOC seem to be the stepping stone for a normie's foray into IDM. I'm pretty sure whenever I tell people I like IDM, they're mishearing me and think I mean EDM anyway, so Skrillex. I recommend Skrillex. Any Skrillex song. Listen to Skrillex or die. Throw away all your tapes & CDs and replace them with Skrillex albums. Have you downloaded your Skrillex yet? Don't worry: I'm sending you all Skrillex files anyway. ________________________________ From: Memjutsu <mehmet.ismail85@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, June 4, 2021 13:43 To: Hugh Davison <hugh@hughdavison.com> Cc: John D <john.m.dalton.iii@gmail.com>; IDM List <idm@hyperreal.org> Subject: Re: Archetypical IDM Autechre - lera James Holden - Gone Feral Curve - Falling Free (Aphex Twin Mix) And another vote for Red Hot Car, has to be included! You: "Electronic music." They: "Oh, techno? I love that, too." You: "Well, not really techno... let me show you." Assuming you'd think .oO(IDM), pick three tracks from the top of your head and/or the bottom of your heart to help them understand. They don't need to be the "best" tracks (whatever that means) or the most popular (who cares), but what you think is somewhat suitable for a nonverbal/acoustic definition of your perspective of what's going in this part of the universe. (I know it's difficult. Maybe it should be albums instead of tracks or five or fifty instead of three, but for the sake of simplicity...) I start, in no particular order: Autechre - Gantz Graf Aphex Twin - Ziggomatic 17 Boards of Canada - Turquoise Hexagon Sun -- Hugh Davison Cell: 072 658 2597 Website: http://hughdavison.com/
