Digital downloads from Warp
We are well pleased to announce that our new baby Bleep.com has emerged
kicking and screaming into the world. Before subjecting it to the full
onslaught of the Warp massive, we wanted to have a week or two for de-bugging
and monitoring to see how it coped with high levels of traffic. We have now
installed some new server hardware to ensure a hassle-free visit. However,
should you still find the site slow (especially in the few hours following
this mailout) then please come back later - the beauty of digital files is
that the shop's shelves are always full. Please check out the Bleep news and
Faq sections for the full story and answers to popular questions

Jimmy Edgar
Access Rhythm, the slamming 4 tracker from new Warp artist and 20 yr old
Detroit native Jimmy Edgar is out now on loud cut 12" vinyl and CD - both
housed in a very nifty die-cut sleeve from the Designers Republic. An album,
Bounce Make Model, is to follow in 2004

Jimmy Edgar Biography
Reviews from Absorb, Logo Magazine, Playlouder Feature and BBCi Feature. Jimmy
is on tour in Europe during February (see Warp Live below)
"The razorsharp beats of Dabrye, the twisted hip hop of Prefuse73, the
futuristic glitch of Akufen and the downbeat machinations of Carl Craig are
all reconfigured into a new shape, with the kind of ease and comfort that
would suggest there's a lot more to come"

New Savath & Savalas album
The new album from Scott Herren's (aka Prefuse73) Savath & Savalas project is
out now. Apropa't is a stunningly beautiful album of Catalan folk songs,
recorded during Scott's time spent in Barcelona and featuring vocals by
collaborator Eva Puyuelo Muns. The album was engineered by Tortoise's John
McEntire.

"Just as Scott Herren starts getting the acclaim he deserves as leftfield hip
hop producer Prefuse73, the Atlanta native and Barcelona resident shifts
identities. Savath & Savalas were last spotted in 2000 as pensive, decent
post-rockers. Now though, Herren has a new partner - Catalonian
singer/songwriter Eva Puyeulo Muns - and a gorgeous new sound. So hazy Latin
songs emerge out of discreet electronic flutter, acoustic guitars trace shapes
around Muns' and Herren's androgynous harmonies, odd bits of Tortoise go about
their business in the background. And the whole thing emerges as an enchanting
update of the dreamier end of 70s Brazilian pop - as good a record, in fact,
as anything this gifted polymath has ever released."

Squarepusher/
New album and single
Squarepusher will release a new album in March. Ultravisitor is a full length
epic that Tom has described as his best work yet, and combines superlative
live bass with song writing and rhythm programming to match anything before.
The album is preceded by a 3 track promo EP/Single called Squarewindow, out
now. The 12" vinyl is available through your local independent record shop and
Warpmart. The EP is available digitally exclusively through Bleep.com

Squarepusher plays specially written new material with the London Sinfonietta
in March, then kicks off a USA tour during April.
New Beans mini-album
A new mini-album from former Anti Pop Consortium instigator Beans is released
on February 9th. Now Soon Someday features 6 brand new tracks and exclusive
remixes by indie hip hop kings Prefuse73 and El-P. On this kicking new record,
Beans (now able to count Weatherall, Missy, Radiohead and Shadow amongst his
growing fan club) combines his bulls-eye production with a trademark visceral
delivery and rhymes that dig deep into the human condition and frailties.
After touring in 2003 with El-P, Prefuse73, Mike Ladd, DJ Krush and The
Rapture, Beans is back in Feb with a string of European live dates. See Warp
Live below.

!!!
After topping numerous "Single of The Year" polls with the classic Me and
Giuliani... single, !!! ("Chk Chk Chk") have now finished their album, and are
mixing it down in the studio as we speak. Their sold-out London gig in
December turned into a sweaty rave up and next day had the press excitedly
comparing them to the Mondays and Trouble Funk amongst others...

New London Sinfonietta Collaborations
The London Sinfonietta started 'a quiet musical revolution' when they joined
forces with Warp and sold out the Royal Festival Hall during 2003's Ether
festival. In March they return with a new and inspired project, this time
featuring live performances by Squarepusher and Jamie Lidell, which takes to
the road with the Contemporary Music Network. The show consists of
performances of work by Antheil, Aphex Twin, John Cage, Jamie Lidell, Steve
Reich, Squarepusher, Varèse, with rare Warp videos and visuals by Fernand
Lèger, Chris Cunningham, Flat-E and Bluespoon. The first date is at the Royal
Festival Hall in London on 12th March (Ether 2004), continuing on to Warwick,
Basingstoke, Brighton and Liverpool. We advise booking now!
Ether 2004
The world-class Ether festival returns to London's South Bank during March.
Highlights include: A full 5.1 AV Show by Plaid, Kraftwerk, David Alexrod &
Orchestra, Luke Vibert & JJ Perrey, and the London Sinfonietta + Warp concert.

Warp Films update
After last year's success with the BAFTA-winning short film by Chris Morris,
My Wrongs 8245-8249 and 117, Warp Films are currently in final production
stages of our first feature film, Dead Man's Shoes directed by Shane Meadows
(Room for Romeo Brass, Once Upon a Time in the Midlands) and starring Paddy
Considine. The film is a genre twisting tale of the revenge of an ex-soldier
returning to his hometown to face the gang who still control the town he left
8 years previously. There is a Warp Films/video showcase at the Clermont
Ferrand short film festival in France starting 7th February. Chris Morris' My
Wrongs.. screens in the Lab section, and there is a big Warp Vision
retrospective of Warp videos.

Lost in Translation
'Tommib' by Squarepusher (taken from Go Plastic) features on the soundtrack to
Sofia Coppola's latest, Lost in Translation. The album also features 4 new
pieces from My Bloody Valentine genius Kevin Shields, and has just been
nominated for a BAFTA for best soundtrack.
Squarepusher Remixes on Ninja Tune Compilation
Squarepusher again(!), and Ninja Tune's newest compendium includes his
legendary and ace remixes of DJ Food and East Flatbush Project, amongst other
reworks by Luke Vibert, Four Tet, Manitoba and many more. Recommended.
Lex-related cut and splice mayhem
Thought that bootleg mania was well and truly over? Think again, as DJ
Dangermouse (the DM in your DM & Jemini) has successfully melded the full
vocal content of Jay-Z's Black Album with new beats and production entirely
made using the Beatles White Album as the source. The resulting Grey Album is
nothing to do with Lex Records and unlikely to be available in your local
Woolworths, but keep an eye out for it this spring.

Good article on MTV
Continuing the mashup theme, prepare for Richard X's enormous rework of Prince
Po's Hold Dat, incorporating a big bleepy chunk of an old school Nightmares on
Wax classic.
Released April 8th on Lex.
Thanks to the Apple centres in Manchester and London for their help with
Bleep. Kleber and tDR for build and design.
