[idm] preamp suggestions (recording from vinyl)

For my vinyl -> PC setup, I am after really good preamp. The ONLY thing I require is gain control; nothing else. I want something where I can guarantee no introduction of extra noise noise or level-altering to the signal. Any suggestions?
