why would anybody with an iPod use MP3 when you can enjoy the superior quality/compression of AAC ? and as for your question... if you MUST stay with MP3, i would dump CDEX and use EAC (exactaudiocopy.de). the latest developement version is setup ready to go for LAME 3.92 (which is the latest version to use) and is IMNSHO the best ripper available for the Windoze platform. <--the "." character at the end of that sentence is pronounced "period" -=dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aaron D Meyers" <adm226@nyu.edu> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Sunday, November 30, 2003 12:51 PM Subject: [idm] [OT] CDEX

iPod a lot. I'm pretty sure I've heard a lot of people say the LAME is the best encoder, so I'd like to hear from folks that use CDEX/LAME on what kind of settings they use. I noticed that in addition to a bitrate setting, there is also a quality setting. So I'm wondering, would it be better to encode at 128kbs and use the hi quality setting or encode at 192kbs and use the normal quality setting. What's the difference between the two? Thanks.
