Please. With the number of nerdy electronica and postrock fans around there is no excuse to settle for decent. "Good enough never is" and all that. Call me an idealist, but why even tune in when I can listen to real noncorporate netradio that plays better music, or that I can set up my own streaming rather easily? It's a weak value proposition, as they say in the boardrooms.

This is a direct contradiction of their manifesto. You're saying that they'll get to the noncorporate stuff just as soon as they take care of the corporate stuff. I don't care if they have to do it this way, and I'm not interested in coming up with better ways for them to do it right. By your speculation above, their manifesto is not supportable by their business model, and beyond that their manifesto - if carried into being - would alienate the suppliers they depend on to satisfy the corporation.

It's suspicious if anything. What possible gain could a "major corporation" have from promoting an anticorporate stance? I'll tell you what: the 60's brought about the advertising and marketing techniques of co-opting counterculture and whoever is behind SIRIUS is no doubt just trying to cash in on the most obvious untapped target demographic: anti-RIAA bods. Nobody needs corporate broadcasting anymore. -e --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
